Where Angels Fear to Tread - Book Review

Opinion; I’m a huge fan of E.M Forster and I plan to finish reading all his novels by the end of the year. This story seemed a little too muddled. You could easily split it into 3 stories and it would be better if you did instead of jumbling it all up, however this could just be my opinion. A tale of love, life, tragedy and (of course) Italy. Beautiful descriptions of the scenery in Monteriano as well as discriptions of the scenes and like all other Forster novels it is easy to escape into the story which to me is a sign of a brilliant book!

Recommend to; Anyone who enjoys classic literature based in the early 1900’s as well as people who love a good tragic love story.

Howards End - E.M Forster - Book Review

Opinion; A brilliant classic novel. I really enjoyed this book although I think it needs to be said that, at least in my opinion, A Room With A View was a little bit better. An interesting novel about many people who are linked by one small event and are thrown together more and more as time goes on. It starts off really well but what I love about this novel is that it its gets better with every page and doesn’t stop getting better. This, I think, is where A Room with a View differs, I believe that ARWAV progresses faster and the quality is better. But enough about ARWAV and more about Howards End. I was not convinced by Maragret”s love for Henry, it seemed to come on too fast for both and it wasn’t even subtly hinted that they liked each other until a few pages before he proposed. She seemed to threaten leaving him too and I was so happy when she was going to at the end only to be left disappointed. I liked the character of Helen though, she was very passionate about the things that mattered and she seemed to have a great philiosophy for most situations, I think she was a little foolish at times but without these foolish moments it wouldn’t have been such a great story.

Recommend to; Classic literature fans, Forster fans

The Kings Speech - Book Review

Opinion; It was not completely terrible but it was terribly un-interesting. It has taken me a good long time to finish and I’m glad I finally have. This was a bit of an unusual read for me as the only genre I’ve read that comes close is Autobiographies but this was not written by the people involved but the grandson and an unknown. This I think is possibly why it is a little dull, it is easier to follow a story when you know what is being said is exactly what happened and not guess work from some old diaries (that tell just one side of the story) and letters. What drew me to this book was the Kings speech impediment, my grandad also stutters and so I thought it would be interesting to read about a figure head who also suffered however it told more about the speech therapist Lionel Logue than of the King and so again I was a little dissapointed.

Recommend to; Not quite sure who I should recommend this to, I think anyone who wants to give it ago should as their opinions may well differ from mine.

You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.

emwrites asked: Hello :)

I am working on behalf of Elizabeth Marshall. She has just released a new book called 'When Fate Dictates'. The book would really benefit from support from someone with such credibility as you. :D
May I greatfully ask that you possibly reblog one of the trailers (which can be found on the blog) Or even review the book? :)
It would mean the world to Elizabeth and all the staff working on this project.
I hope you can get back to me.
Take care

Hello,

Thank you for letting me know about this novel, I am always more than happy to be introduced to new authors or newly released books. I would love to review it for her if you could let me know when it is being released in shops as I don’t have an e-reader or kindle.

Thanks

Jane Eyre & Wuthering Heights

This link is to a blog of a very good friend of mine.

In this post she talks about the differences between Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights and she also gives her opinion of which one is better. I have read both books and I can say I agree with her opinion 100% she seems to really have hit the nail on the head. So please check it out and see what you think.
